Nandy (SCE) to NRC, NRC Bulletin 88-11, "Pressurizer Surge Line Thermal Stratification" (B) Letter No. OG-89-24, dated April 18, 1989, from Gregg Kammerdeiner (Chairman, Materials Subcommittee, WOG), to Materials Subcommittee Representatives, Pressure Surge Line Stratification Detailed Analysis This is regarding NRC Bulletin No. 88-11 (Pressurizer Surge Line Thermal Stratification) dated December 20, 1988, as applicable to San Onofre Unit 1.
By Reference A, SCE requested an alternate schedule to that stated in the bulletin, for completing the various actions required by the bulletin. Reference A stated that a JCO to support the alternate schedule would be submitted to the NRC by May 4, 1989, and would utilize information obtained through the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG).
This is to inform NRC that the JCO referred to above will be submitted by May 31, 1989.
This extension is the result of a delay in receiving the required information from WOG for incorporation into the JCO. The May 31, 1989 date is also consistent with the schedule agreed to on April 11, 1989 between WOG and NRC, as reported in Reference B and as recently discussed between SCE and members of the NRC staff. This extension is not expected to impact any of SCE's remaining commitments described in Reference A.
