Mr. D. L. Ziemann, Chief Operating Reactors Branch 42 Division of Operating Reactors U. S. Nuclear Regulatory.Commission Washington, D. C.

20555 Gentlemen:

Subject:

Docket No. 50-206 Appendix I Technical Specifications San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 In our letter to you dated November 14, 1978, we indicated that we had received the model Appendix I Technical Specifications (NUREG 0472) by letter dated June 11, 1978.

An enclosure to that NRC June 11, 1978 letter requested that we submit a license amendment incorporating the model Technical Specifications into our Appendix A Technical Specifications within 120 days.

It was pointed out in the November 14, 1978 fetter that three NRC computer codes necessary to calculate parameters in the model Technical Specifications were not yet available. We further indicated that we would wait until after the one day Appendix I Technical Specifications Seminar held on December 1, 1978 by the Region V Office of Inspection and Enforcement to identify a date for submitting a license amendment incorporating the Appendix I Technical Specifications into our Appendix A Technical Specifications.

Following the December 1, 1978 seminar we received the three NRC computer codes necessary for preparing the Appendix I Technical Specification. Subsequent to receipt of the codes we have received from the NRC additional guidance required to run the computer codes.

It appears that the last of such guidance was received by letter dated January 4, 1979.
