SUBJECT:
SAFETY ISSUES MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (SIMS) ITEMS II.B.3.1 AND III.D.3.3.2 This memorandum updates my previous memorandum dated June 14, 1990.
The current SIMS printout lists II.B.3.1 as "6" for WNP-2, SONGS 2, 3, and Palo Verde.
Closure of Item II 8.3.1 -is a verification that the licensee had established an interim post-accident sampling capability until the long term system meeting the criteria expressed in NUREG 0737 had been established.
Since WNP-2, SONGS 2, 3, and Palo Verde were not licensed prior to 1982, they did not require interim systems; they did not establish interim systems; and their actual post-accident sampling systems were inspected and addressed with the issuance of an operating license. Accordingly, "NA" will be entered for the "Final Inspection Date" for these facilities.
The SIMS printout should list "NA" in the "verify complete column for Palo Verde Units 1, 2, and 3 for item III.D.3.3.2 since they did not receive fuel loading licenses until after January 1, 1981.
