SUBJECT:

PLANNED INSPECTION PROGRAM FOR SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR PLANT UNIT-1 DURING THE POST-OPERATIONAL AND DECOMMISSIONING PHASES POST OPERATIONS HISTORY On November 30, 1992, SONGS Unit-1 permanently shutdown, and reactor defueling was completed on March 9, 1993. SCE submitted a preliminary decommissioning plan on December 1, 1992, and Permanently Defueled Technical Specification amendment on May 12, 1993.

Based on discussions with NRR-HQ, the SONGS Unit-1 PDTS may be out in December 1993.

POST OPERATIONS INSPECTION PLAN In accordance with NRC Inspection Manual Chapter 2561 the following inspection procedures will be utilized during the post-operational phase of SONGS Unit-1 in FY-94:

The inspection program will use a total of 75 hours8.680556e-4 days <br />0.0208 hours <br />1.240079e-4 weeks <br />2.85375e-5 months <br /> (55 hrs. for Project Engineering & Radiological Controls, and 20 hrs. for Security) in FY-94 at SONGS-1. Presently, the licensee intends to keep Unit-i in a SAFESTOR until year 2013, but begin some decommissioning activities in 2004.
