NUREG-0737, Supplement 1 Control Room Design Review San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 In accordance with the requirements of Supplement 1 to NUREG-0737, Item 5.2.b, enclosed is the Control Room Design Review (CRDR) Final Summary Report for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1. This report details the methodology employed to perform the CRDR and includes all findings and assessments from which control room modifications were approved for future implementation.
The overall intent of performing the CRDR is to optimize the control room man-machine interface through proper human engineering practices. An implementation schedule for CRDR modifications will be established in accordance with the Integrated Implementation Schedule (IIS).
The implementation schedule will be documented in the sixth edition of the IIS.
This edition of the IIS will be provided to the NRC in April 1988. The enclosed report contains a detailed discussion of the methodology which SCE utilized to ensure proper integration of the CRDR with related initiatives.
The report also provides documentation of SCE's commitment to control room enhancement.
Recognizing the evolving nature of control room design, the criteria developed as part of the CRDR will be factored into all future control room modifications.
