Docket No. 50-206 Generic Letter No. 89-13: Service Water System Problems Affecting Safety-Related Equipment San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 This letter provides confirmation that we have completed implementation of our program developed in response to Generic Letter 89-13. Generic Letter 89-13, dated July 18, 1989, provided recommended actions to address various problems with service water systems which, in the past, have led to system degradation or failure at some plants. The Generic Letter requires licensees to develop programs to ensure that their service water systems are capable of performing in accordance with their licensing bases. The reporting requirements of Generic Letter 89-13 require two submittals. The first submittal should provide a description of the program to be implemented and was satisfied by our letter dated January 26, 1990. The second submittal should confirm that implementation of our program has been completed and is provided by this letter.
Our Generic Letter 89-13 program was implemented during the recent Cycle 11 refueling outage. The detailed documentation of our program is being retained in appropriate plant records.
