SEP Topic 111-6 Seismic Design Considerations San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By letter dated July 7, 1981 we provided a description of the scope of the program for the Balance of Plant Mechanical Equipment and Piping (BOPMEP) Seismic Reevaluation Program. Provided as an enclosure to this letter is a description of the methodology and criteria to be used in this program. Delay of submittal of this information has been discussed with the NRC Staff.

should be noted that accident mitigating systems are not included in the scope of the BOPMEP Seismic Reevaluation Program as was indicated in our July 7, 1981 letter. Accident mitigating systems will be reevaluated as part of a separate program to be initiated following completion of the BOPMEP program. However, it is currently planned that the methodology and criteria provided in the enclosure to this letter will also be used for the accident mitigating system seismic reevaluation program.
