Reportable 10CFR21 Defect BED Wbdel G645E4, Camshaft Bracket
Dear Mr. Murley:
We have been advised by our subsidiary, Power Systems Division in Rocky Mount, North Carolina of a reportable 10CFR21 defect in the left camshaft bracket of the 20-cylinder BD Wbdel G645E4 engine.
Please refer to the attached correspondence for specific details.

ar Falter LOCCA-rioN Baise AAiN1%4 neLocaoN PSD, Rocky Mount sAuJmCT 10CFR21-0042 EM the angine manufacturer has reported that a left hand camshaft bracket in the twanty (20) cylinder ED Modal G645E4 at the Southern California Edison Company, San Onofree Nuclear Plant has failed.
I have determined that thik is a reportable defect but specific to the San Onofree plant. END has reviewed the-other U.S. plants and find that the condition for the defect does not exeist at those sites.
The condition is a very specific generator inertia for the generator at San Onofree. Details will follow.
