SUBJECT:
REVIEW OF SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATION STATION RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION 50-361/93-18 During an NRC inspection conducted on July 12 -
16, 1993, a violation of your Technical Specifications was identified and documented in NRC Inspection Report Nos. 50-206/93-18, 50-361/93-18, and 50-362/93-18.
On August 19, 1993, in a meeting with Region V staff, you presented additional information regarding the violation.
Further, there were several subsequent telephone discussions between Region V'and SCE to provide further clarifications regarding the subject violation.
The violation involved the apparent failure to post a high radiation area inside the bioshield on the 17'6" elevation of the Unit 2 containment. In your response, dated September 13, 1993, you indicated that the high radiation area was adequately posted with a high radiation area sign.
After a careful review of this matter, Region V staff has concluded that the subject violation is not warranted and is therefore withdrawn.
