Responses to Questions on Pressurizer Safety Valves and Discharge Piping Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 SCE's letter of October 14, 1983 submitted responses to thirteen questions from the NRC staff on the "San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 Pressurizer Safety Valve Operability and Safety Valve Discharge Piping Adequacy Report." The report provided an evaluation of the EPRI/CE program test results and demonstrated, (1) satisfactory operability of the Units 2 and 3 safety valves, and (2) the adequacyof the safety valve discharge piping system.
Subsequently, on January 12, 1984 the NRC staff requested additional clarification on four of the thirteen responses. The responses needing clarification are to NRC questions 8, 9, 12 and 13 which relate to the discharge piping system of the subject report. Consistent with this request, enclosed please find seven copies of SCE's response to the latest NRC inquiries. As stated in previous submittals, the report satisfies the requirements of Item II.D.1, Relief and Safety Valve Testing, of NUREG-0737.
