Docket Nos. 50-206 Simulator Facility Certification San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 This letter submits NRC Form 474, "Simulation Facility Certification," for the San Onofre Unit 1 control room training simulator. This certification is required by 10 CFR 55.45(b)(2)(iii) for a plant-referenced simulator. It is being submitted in accordance with the schedule established in the NRC's exemption on this subject dated March 22, 1991.
The supporting document that summarizes the reviews and performance tests conducted to meet Regulatory Guide 1.149, "Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Facilities for use in Operator License Examinations," and ANSI/ANS 3.5-1985, "Nuclear Power Plant Simulators for use in Operator Training," is also enclosed. Southern California Edison certifies that our training simulator meets the guidance established in ANSI/ANS 3.5-1985 as endorsed in Regulatory Guide 1.149 with the exceptions described in the enclosure.
