R. H. Engelken Director
Dear Mr. Engelken:
IE Bulletin Nos.
76-02/76-03 General Electric Relay Failures Reference is made to your correspondence of March 17, 1976 concerning IE Bulletin No. 76-02, General Electric Relay Coil Failure and Relay Malfunctions.
A review of plant electrical circuits confirms the subject relays are not utilized in our reactor control or reactor protection systems.
Approximately 76 HFA type relays, however, are utilized in other electrical schemes.
Due to difficulties experienced with this relay coil at other Edison generating stations, an order was placed with General Electric for replacement coils.
These coils were subsequently received in January, 1976.
It is our intention to replace as many HFA relay coils as practical during a plant outage scheduled for April, 1976.
The remaining coils will be replaced during our refueling outage scheduled for August, 1976.
In reference to IE Bulletin No. 76-03, General Electric Type STD Relays, we have reviewed the plant electrical schemes, including reactor control and protection functions and find that the subject relays are not utilized in any circuits at this facility.
