Dear Sir:
IE Bulletin No. 78-06 Defective Cutler-Hammer, Type M Relays with DC Coils Reference is made to your correspondence of May 31, 1978, forwarding the subject IE Bulletin. Identified therein was a problem relative to defective Cutler-Hammer Type M, DC Relays, Catalog No. D23 MRD. Some of the Type M, DC Relays fail due to a loss of arc gap in the coil clearing contact when the normal mode of operation is to have the coil continuously energized.
In response to the action items delineated in the subject Bulletin, we have determined that no Cutler-Hammer Type M, DC Relays, Catalog No. D23 MRD, are in, use at San Onofre Unit 1, nor are such relays in spares inventory or on order.
Response relative to.Dockets 50-361 and 50-362 will be provided under separate cover.
