San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2&3 Docket Nos. 50-361 and 50-362 In accordance with the July 6, 1978 approval of the Preoperational Monitoring Program (PMP) for San Onofre Units 2&3, the results of the PMP have been incorporated into the 1979,Annual Operating Report for Unit 1. Volume V of the 1979 Annual Operating Report for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station presents the Biological and Oceangraphic Data Analyses. Copies of Volume V are being sent to both the Office of Inspection and Enforcement, Region V, and the Division of Project Management as required by the Unit 1 Environmental Technical Specifications (ETS) and the approval for the Preoperational Monitoring Program for Units 2&3.
In 1978, the PMP was initiated in compliance with requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The PMP along with other environmental monitoring programs will provide a baseline of oceangraphic and marine biological data prior to the operation of Units 2&3. The Preoperational Monitoring Program is complementary to the Unit 1 ETS program and essentially expands the study area further offshore into the area of Units 2&3 diffusers.
The PMP was started in June 1978 and terminated in June 1980, with 24 months of oceanographic and biological studies. A total of 18 months of preoperational data are reported in this volume.
