Dear Sir:
In accordance with the provisions of Sections 6.9.1.b of Appendix A (Safety Technical Specifications) and 5.6.1.a through 5.6.1.d of Appendix B (Environmental Technical Specifications) to the Provisional Operating License DPR-13, as amended, we are submitting information relative to oc cupational exposure and our environmental surveillance programs for 1979.
This information covers the reporting period from January 1, 1979 to December 31, 1979.
Accordingly, submitted herewith (original plus two copies) are the follcwing:
(1), Annual Operating Report of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1, for 1979, including:
a)
A tabulation of occupational exposures responsive to the requirements of Section 6.9.1.b of Appendix A.
b)
A tabulation of corrective maintenance responsive to Section 5.6.1.a of Appendix B.
c)
A listing and brief description of design changes.
This listing is responsive to the reporting requirement of Section 5.6.1.b of Appendix B with a preliminary state-A 07 ment conveying an assessment of the environmental irpact applicable to all listed design changes.

The Environmental Surveillance Report responsive to Sec tion 5.6.1.c of Appendix B.
Results of radiological samples taken during the fourth quarter of 1979 are not yet available from the analysis laboratory.
This data will be submitted as soon as possible, but no later than July 1, 1980 as specified in Section 5.6.1.c.(5).

Four reports relative to San Onofre Marine Studies conducted during 1979.
Included are the following San Onofre Annual Cperating Reports covering the period from January 1 to December 31, 1979.
a)
Volume I Oceanographic Data Report:
Environmental Technical Specifications (ETS) Unit 1; Construction Monitoring Program (CMP) Units 2 and 3; Preoperational Monitoring Program (PMP) Units 2 and 3.
b)
Volume II Biological Data Report:
Intertidal Infaunal, Subtidal Infaunal, Kelp and Ichthyoplankton: CMP Units 2 and 3; Special Study:
Ichthyoplankton.
c)
Volume III Biological Data Report:
Plankton, Hard Benthos Rocky Intertidal:
ETS Unit 1; CMP Units 2 and 3; PMP Units 2 and 3.
d)
Volume IV Biological Data Report:
Nekton:
ETS Unit 1; PMP Units 2 and 3.
The reports above contain material responsive to the reporting re quirements of Section 5.6.1.d of Appendix B.
In addition, these reports meet all requirements specified by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board -
San Diego Region - Monitoring and Report Program 71-6 for construction of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 2 and 3 including Technical Change Orders No. 1, 2, and 3.
Further, the investi gations satisfy the special study requirement of the NRC Preoperational Monitoring Program for Units 2 and 3.
All four reports are provided since the information contained is conplimentary and reflects the total marine monitoring program for Units 1, 2 and 3.
The total information package exceeds the specific requirements of the Unit 1 Environmental Technical Specifications.
The analysis and interpretation of the 1979 data is presently under development.
Submittal by July 1, 1980 as required by Appendix B Speci fication 5.6.1.d is planned.
