SUBJECT:
MEETING TO DISCUSS SEISMIC/STRUCTURAL AUDIT OPEN ITEMS Representatives of the applicants"met with th NRC staff in Bethesda, Maryland on March 7 and 8, 1979 to discuss cer ain of the action iteimis that resulted from the December 4-8,, 1978 seismic/structural audi t (see NRC meeting minutes issued on January 12, 1979). Attendees at the meetinlg are given in.. The meeting agenda is given in Enclosure 2. A list of the item discussed at the March 7 and 8," 1979 meeting is given below. Also included are the additional commitments made by the applicants at the meeting.
- 1. Offshore Circulating Water System - all nine audit request items were covered at the meeting, either by discussion or by inclusion in hand outs presented by the applicants. The applicants stated that Item 8 would be addressed by amending Table 3.8-14a in the FSAR.
- 2. Onshore Circulating Water System -audit request Item 2 was covered at the meeting. The other six items will be addressed at a later meeting.
- 3. Containment Structure -
all items were covered at the meeting except Items 8 and 9. These will be addressed at a later meeting. In addressing Items 5 and 7, the applicants agreed to provide a paper on "Seismic Loading Criteria. for Circular Basemat Design" and cal culation package for overturning safety factor based on the non linear energy equilibrium analysis methodology.,

- 5. Auxiliary Building -
all items were covered at the meeting except Item 5, which will be addressed later. In addition, the applicants agreed-to veritfy,that th' value oflive loading used in combination with setsic and b accid'nts l1ads\\adequately represents service live load' conditions.
Further, the applicants agreed'to prpvide calculations for the Control. Area sl@ at elevation +50 for OBE loading 'and the steel column which syp ports the truss at eleva tion 470.
The latter item will be presented in conjunction with the response to Auxiliary Building Item 5.
6 Fuel Handling Building -
all items except 3 and 6 were covered at the meeting. In addition, the appi nits agreed to provide the calculation.package consisting of pages 71 to 89 of calculations to analyze 6'ffects of a cask drop, in conjunction with the response to Fuel Handling Building Item 5.
- 7..,pent Fuel Crane Supports all items were covered at the meeting.
The applicants agreed to provide the calculation package for the design of the Cask Handling Crane support bracket on the south wall of the'Unit 2 Fuel Handling Building including results of calculations for the interaction between the column design moment and axial loads resulting from the Cask Handling Crane. Also, in conjunction with the response to Item 2,-the'applicant agreed to-provide the calculation package which verifies the comparison of the concrete giifder supporting the Cask Handling Crane with SRP criteria.
- 8. Safety Equipment Building all. items were covered at the meetinn:
