SUBJECT:
POSSIBLE BOARD NOTIFICATION.ITEM SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION UNITS 2 & 3 Southern California Edison has notified us of the occurrence of about 20 small earthquakes.(largest magnitude ML = 3.0) in the San Onofre region-during 6-9 November 1981.
Preliminary location estimates of the earthquakes place them about 5 kilometers offshore and 12 kilometers south east of the plant site. This location is in the approximate vicinity of both the Offshore Zone of Deformation and the Cristianitos Zone of Defor mation.
Southern California Edison is-preparing a report on these earthquakes-which we expect to receive by 23 November 1981.
We-request.that the board-be notified that there is some-new information available.. We will be able to provide the.results of our review of the Southern California Edison report to the board in two weeks from November 23, 1981.
