SUBJECT:
MEETINGS TO RESOLVE SAN ONOFRE 2/3 OPEN ITEMS As the attached meeting notice indicates, we have scheduled meetings next week with a number of review branches to discuss the remaining open items for San Onofre 2 and 3. The review has progressed to the point that the remaining open items are based on fundamental differences of opinion between the staff and the applicant. Many of these issues may result in appeals to NRC management.by the applicant.
To expedite the closeout of these open items, we request that you have your branch chiefs attend the meeting to discuss open items associated with their branch positions so that if an appeal is necessary, it can proceed at the AD level.
