NEI 13-01, REPORTABLE ACTION LEVELS FOR LOSS OF EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS CAPABILITIES
Dear Ms. Perkins-Grew:
By letter dated June 5, 2013, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) submitted a copy of the subject document (ADAMS Accession ML131560390) seeking U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) endorsement. This document had been previously submitted as drafts and two public meetings had been conducted (ADAMS Accession ML13100A390 and ML13109A228). In its review of the document, my staff identified additional issues of concern that would have prevented our endorsement of the document. These concerns were communicated to your staff. On October 8, NEI submitted a revised copy of the subject document (ADAMS Accession ML13281A765). Our concerns have been satisfactorily addressed in the October 8, 2013, latest revision.
The NRC plans to review the document and provide endorsement for NEI 13-01 through a supplement to NUREG-1022, Event Report Guidelines 10 CFR 50.72 and 50.73. The supplement, which is in preparation, will need to undergo office concurrence and a public comment period.
