Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC McGuire Nuclear Station Docket Numbers 50-369 and 50-370 McGuire Nuclear Station - Simulator Certification per ANSI/ANS-3.5, "Nuclear Plant Simulators for Use in Operator Training and Examination" The purpose of this letter is to document that the McGuire simulator is now certified to and operates under NRC Regulatory Guide, 1.149, "Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Facilities for Use in Operator Training, License Examinations, and Applicant Experience Requirements", (Revision 4, April 2011) that endorses the simulator ANSI/ANS-3.5-2009 version of the standard.
Since 1991 the McGuire simulator was certified to and operated under the NRC Regulatory Guide 1.149 (Revision 1, April 1987) that endorses the simulator ANSI/ANS-3.5-1985 version of the subject standard.
There are no regulatory commitments contained in this submittal. The McGuire Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) will be revised as necessary in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.71(e).
