RESPONSE TO NRC NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND NRC INSPECTION
REPORT 05000528/2013002, 05000529/2013002, 05000530/2013002
Dear Mr. Edington:
On May 14, 2013, the NRC cited Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station Units 1, 2, and 3 for
failure to periodically update the Updated Final Safety Analysis Report associated with the
Liquid Radwaste System and Old Steam Generator Storage Facility as required by 10 CFR
50.71(e). The Notice of Violation enclosed with Inspection Report 05000528/2013002,
05000529/2013002, and 05000530/2013002 (ML13134A352), required you to respond in writing
within 30 days. You responded by letter dated June 13, 2013 (ML13169A254).
After reviewing the information you provided in your response to the Notice, we have concluded
that your completed and proposed actions appear to adequately address the regulatory
noncompliance described in the Notice of Violation. We will review your implementation of
these corrective actions during a future inspection to determine whether full compliance has
been restored and whether compliance will be maintained.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRCs Rules of Practice, a copy of this letter will be
available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from the
Publicly Available Records (PARS) component of NRCs document system (ADAMS). ADAMS
is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html (the Public
Electronic Reading Room).
