Dear Chief Bladey and Commissioners:

I( (a(coC(

3M 8~=7 I am writing on behalf of the San Gabriel Valley Economic Partnership in support of Southern California Edison's proposed amendment to their Facility Operating License. The Economic Partnership is a regional, not-for-profit collaboration of businesses, local government, higher education institutions, and non-profits committed to the continued successful economic development of the San Gabriel Valley.

Economic vitality and job creation are impossible without an affordable and reliable energy supply. New business will not move to California and existing businesses will not expand here if the energy supply is perpetually endangered by special interests. As summer approaches, we face the possibility of skyrocketing energy costs and an exodus of local businesses unless the San Onofre facility is allowed to provide vital energy for the region.

We request that you make your decision regarding the operations of the San Onofre nuclear facility after an expeditious and careful review made in accordance with established, fact-driven regulatory procedures. Public safety is and always will be the highest priority; however, if NRC expert analysis clearly shows that the SONGS plant can be safely operated, then baseless, unfounded. fears from special interest groups should not sway the Commission's decision.

This is a critical issue for us all and we ask that you carefully weigh the facts.

Sincerely, Cynthia J. Kurtz President and CEO SUNSI Review Complete Template = ADM - 013 E-RIDS= ADM-03 Add= B.
