CFOFV/FD Application and Amendment to Facility Operating License Involving Proposed No Significant Hazards Consideration Determination Comment On: NRC-2013-0070-0001 Application and Amendment to Facility Operating License Involving Proposed No Significant Hazards Consideration Determination; San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 2 Document: NRC-2013-0070-DRAFT-0080 Comment on FR Doc # 2013-08888 Submitter Information Name: Douglas Kirby Address:
20730 Hillside Drive Topanga, CA, 90290 7A~5c General Comment San Onofre is a disaster in waiting: a nuclear reactor in densely populated Orange County in one of the most seismically active parts of the United States. A tsunami on the scale of that which recently flooded the reactor north of Sendai, Japan, could yield comparable results. Radioactive material from such an occurance would blow across the entire United States. In Southern California, the results would be horrific.
The nuclear industry, insured by the United States government and thus protected from possible stockholder losses, has not proven up to the proper diligence required to operate such hazardous facilities.
California is the Nation's leader in the developement and use of alternate energy. We don't need deadly power dependent upon radioactivity.
