POB 712, Adelanto, CA 92301 Ph: 760.246.5711 www.adelantochamber.com CHAMBER OF COMMERCE April 24, 2013 Senator Dianne Feinstein 331 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510

Dear Legislator:

I am writing to express support for a fair and inclusive regulatory process currently underway for the proposed restart and operation of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Unit 2. As the President of The Adelanto Chamber of Commerce, I strongly believe that maintaining a public and transparent regulatory process is vital for the quick restart of SONGS. I strongly believe that Southern California Edison should be allowed to restart and operate SONGS as proposed in their Return-to-Service Action Plan if the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) determines they have sufficiently completed the compensatory and corrective actions requested in the March 27, 2012 Confirmatory Action Letter.

California businesses and residents are facing a tough economy and with thousands of jobs and public services that depend on a reUable power system, SONGS serves a critical function of providing voltage support throughout the year. Developing alternative sources of energy to offset the loss of power generated at SONGS may be necessary, and I am concerned that no energy source will be integrated quickly enough to provide for the immediate reliability that our businesses and residents need during peak conditions.

Finally, our recovery into a strong economy requires affordable, reliable power to businesses and residents alike. Therefore, I encourage the NRC to continue moving forward with the existing process and look forward to a favorable restart of SONGS.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
