I have followed articles in the paper, and have researched the claims and programs of Southern California Edison (SCE) on their website and the internet. I know not everything can be believed, but there are some facts that I would like to point out to you and your staff.
SCE has invested over $90 million dollars in the San Dieguito Wetlands. This will restore the wetlands and natural habitat to what it was 90 years ago. This is more than a half century prior to the in service date of the San Onofre facility.
The Wheeler North reef, a 174 acre artificial kelp reef, built at a cost of $46 million dollars created a new habitat for marine life in San Clemente. This has accomplished most of its success measurements in its first two years.
An additional $5 million dollars was invested in a hatchery for White Sea Bass in Carlsbad.
In reviewing the opponents to the project, none of them have supported the environment to any extent as SCE has.
Their messages are based on perceptions, disregarding past operational performance, and instilling fear in the communities.
Finally, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has stated they would not allow any restart of the units unless they were certain that it was safe to do so. This promise is something that we as the public can trust.
Respectfully, Linda D. Wright, BS, MBA President/CEO/Founder
