Acceptance Review Result to Entergy - Request for NRC Staff Review and Approval of the Revised LOCA Dose Calculated for the ANO-1 Control Room TAC Nos.: MF0524 and MF0525 SUNSI Review Done: Yes. Publicly Available, Normal Release, Non-sensitive, From: N. Kalyanam To: D. Bice
Mr. Bice,
By letter dated January 8, 2013 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML13009A288), Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy) requested NRCs review and approval of the revised LOCA dose calculated for the ANO-1 control room.
The Application stated that Computer Code Radionuclide Transport, Removal and Dose (RADTRAD) Users Group was notified by the code developer in December 2011 of an implementation error in the code. The error notification warned about using a particular capability of the code. RADTRAD was specifically developed to perform dose analyses using the AST methodology of NRC Regulatory Guide 1.183.
The purpose of this letter is to provide the results of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff=s acceptance review of this request. The acceptance review was performed to determine if there is sufficient technical information in scope and depth to allow the NRC staff to complete its detailed technical review. The acceptance review is also intended to identify whether the application has any readily apparent information insufficiencies in its characterization of the regulatory requirements or the licensing basis of the plant.
The NRC staff has reviewed your application and concluded that it does provide technical information in sufficient detail to enable the staff to proceed with its detailed technical review and make an independent assessment regarding the acceptability of the revised calculations in terms of regulatory requirements and the protection of public health and safety and the environment. If additional information is needed for the staff to complete its technical review, you will be advised by separate correspondence.
If you have any questions, please contact the undersigned, at (301)415-1480.
