HONORABLE ANTHONY C. VOLANTE 2534 OCEANMIST COURT PORT HUENEME, CALIFORNIA 93041 March 1, 2013 The Honorable Allison M. Macfarlane, Chair U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Mail Stop 0-1 6G4 Washington, D.C. 20555-0001 Re: Southern California Edison (SCE) San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Honorable Allison M. Macfarlane, Chair I am writing to you as a resident of Ventura County, a former three term Mayor for the City of Port Hueneme and former retired USAF Retired Colonel strongly supporting and urging you and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) allowing the process to continue their extensive and comprehensive review of SCE proposed Return-to-Service Action Plan to determine if they have sufficiently completed the compensatory and corrective actions requested in the March 27, 2012 Confirmatory Action Letter.
California relies on nuclear energy for one-fifth of the state's electricity. With growing electricity demand businesses in California will need even more clean, reliable and efficient electricity to keep running without interruption day and night.
If San Onofre remains offiine beyond 2014, SCE would need to consider a combination of other generation resources and /or construction of transmission lines throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County Basin.
SCE and its employees provide local charities such as our Boys and Girls Clubs with more than $300,000 annually contribution plus thousands of hours of voluntary community service.
We seniors have several concerns with regard to power generation. We look for clean energy generation. We expect a reliable, dependable supply of energy and we need affordable energy that the San Onofre Station is important to all above.

j-,w thai Edison has followed the NRC's requirements and informed them of all changes at the San Otnofre. SCE has also donc an cxtraardinary Public Rclatio,,, outrcealh wma wle piabixe concerning -xtfleluiuleaf atioi*i.
I am pleased to voice without reservation my strong support tbr the NRC to complete its review and bringting San Onofre back in overation soon.
