Chairwoman Allison MacFarlane Mail Stop 0-16G4 Washington, DC 20555-0001 I would like to express my support of the Southern California Edison's San Onofre Generating Station. As you know, these are unique times and finding alternative energy sources to help meet energy demands is important. When operating, San Onofre Station provides up to 2,300 megawatts of electricity which equates to about 10% of the peak daily electricity usage in the region. Additionally, San Onofre has helped avoid 100,000 metric tons of smog producing pollutants and 180 million tons of carbon emissions. Although not completely green this is a great start.
After reviewing related data and research presented October 9, 2012, I am confident that Edison has embraced a blueprint of sustainability. In addition, they have clearly demonstrated their willingness to work in harmony with the NRC to protect the action and safety plan. The employees strongly conveyed that they trust each other to work in the plant.
Our business community needs the San Onofre Plant to come online to provide reliable cost effective electricity to our region along with employment for local residents.
If the NRC determines that Edison should be allowed to restart and operate the San Onofre Plant, and has met all requirements, I would ask for your approval for them to move forward.
Sincerely, Carolyn Hemming Businesswoman and active civic volunteer, Pomona CA
