March 4, 2013 Senator Dianne Feinstein 331 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, DC 20510 RE: Safe restart of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Unit 2 SUPPORT

Dear Senator Feinstein:

On behalf of the Board of Directors and Members of the Ventura County Economic Development Association, I am writing to encourage the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to complete its review and approve the restart of Unit 2, if it is determined safe to do so.

Businesses throughout Ventura County and across Southern California rely on a safe and stable source of electricity to conduct business and keep our economy on an upward path.

We believe Southern California Edison (SCE) is taking proper remedial measures to insure the safe and efficient restart of Unit 2.

It has been our experience that SCE takes safety of its facilities very seriously. We are confident that the NRC can and will assure that the corrective action, repair and operation plans prepared by an internal and external team of experts, is sound.

We are concerned that the review process will be delayed or stopped by interests that are philosophically opposed to any use of nuclear energy. We Urge the NRC to recognize these efforts for what they are and expeditiously complete its review and make a finding that would allow for the safe restart of Unit 2.

Thank you for your attention and consideration. Should. you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (805) 479-2491.

Respectfully, Bill Buratto President/CEO Cc: Allison MacFarlane, Chairwoman, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Elmo Collins, Jr., Regional Adminstrator, U. S.
