SUBJECT:

PLANNED INSPECTION OF TI-186 INSPECTION OF PROCEDURES AND PROCESSES FOR RESPONDING TO POTENTIAL AIRCRAFT THREATS AT PALO VERDE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION

Dear Mr. Edington:

In a telephone conversation on January 10, 2013, Mr. S. Hedger, Operator Licensing Branch, and Ms. M. Ray, Director, Emergency Preparedness/Security, made arrangements for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to conduct an inspection using Temporary Instruction (TI)-186, Inspection of Procedures and Processes for Responding to Potential Aircraft Threats, at Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station. This inspection is planned for the week of May 20, 2013. The NRC inspectors request to observe a tabletop or control room simulator exercise, combined with plant walkthroughs with plant operators to allow inspection of TI-186 attributes. Ms. M. Ray has been advised of this request and provided with the name and address of the NRC lead inspector assigned to this inspection.
