Dear Senator Feinstein,

The Orange Chamber of Commerce, representing 500 members and approximately 13,000 jobs are greatly interested in assuring a fair and inclusive regulatory process for the proposed restart and operation of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (Songs) Unit 2.

Orange County and our surrounding Counties are in dire need of continued and reliable energy and the restart and operation of SONGS as proposed in the Southern California Edison (SCE) Return-to-Service Action Plan would allow our county to continue our economic development efforts in retaining and bringing in new businesses to this region. New businesses must be assured of reliable, continuous, fairly priced electricity and for SCE to do this nuclear power needs to remain a part of their green energy portfolio.

Our region provides billions of dollars to the state economy and thousands of jobs which rely on SONGS service. Should critical power needs be cut, the impact would be devastating to the region and the State of California. When operating, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station provides up to 2,200 megawatts of electricity, which equates to about 10% of the peak daily electricity usage in the region.

Therefore, the Orange Chamber of Commerce strongly SUPPORTS a fair and inclusive regulatory process for the proposed restart plan and operation of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Unit 2.
