Dear Chairwoman MacFarlane:
With growing electricity demand and the need for cleaner, reliable, and affordable sources of power, California needs to maintain diverse energy sources that will mitigate fluctuations in fuel prices and the availability of any single energy source.
As the voice of business in Santa Ana, the Chamber of Commerce is committed to fostering business growth, employment, and a balance between economic vibrancy and livability.
With California in an economic crucible, we cannot afford to have more companies leave California in search of lower costs of doing business. Nuclear power is one of the lowest-cost producer of basic electric power and has a lower production cost than coal or natural gas which helps reduce the price of reliable electricity for businesses.
The Santa Ana Chamber of Commerce is in favor of restarting Unit 2 at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) after the Nuclear Regulatory Commission determines that Southern California Edison has completed required corrective modifications to ensure that SONGS is safe for continued operation to serve California.
Sincerely,
neoposuf 12/06/2012 FIRST-CLASS MAIL'
