SUBJECT:
Change to License Renewal Commitment Regarding Circulating Water Discharge Tunnel Inspection In Reference 2, the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) committed to perform a one time inspection of the circulating water (CW) discharge tunnel under the Structures Monitoring Program (8.2.10). The commitment is documented in Section 15.4, "License Renewal Commitment Listing" of the Updated Safety Analysis Report (Item
- 31).
In June 2012, divers from Underwater Construction Corporation completed an inspection of 10% of the interior surface area of the CW discharge tunnel. The areas chosen were representative of the CW discharge tunnel as a whole and included areas subject to low flow, areas subject to direct impingement of flow, and one area in the middle of a wall.
The inspection results were satisfactory and therefore, OPPD considers the commitment to be met. However, for additional conservatism, OPPD will revise the commitment to require the CW discharge tunnel to be inspected every 3rd refueling outage (RFO). As Fort Calhoun Station is currently in the RFO following Cycle 26 operation, the next inspection will occur in the RFO following Cycle 29.
Attached is a table listing the regulatory commitments being made in this submittal.
