Heymer (NEI), dated May 31, 2012, Endorsement of Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) Draft Report 1025286, "Seismic Walkdown Guidance," ML12145A529 On March 12, 2012, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Reference (a) to all power reactor licensees. The NRC letter requests further information from addressees to support the evaluation of NRC Staff Recommendation 2.3: Seismic from the Near-Term Task Force review of the accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear facility. Reference (a) further requested a response within 180 days of NRC's endorsement of the seismic walkdown procedure.

Reference (b), confirmed that Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit 1 will use the seismic walkdown procedure, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) 1025286, Seismic Walkdown Guidance: For Resolution of Fukushima Near-Term Task Force Recommendation 2.3." Seismic. The walkdown procedure was endorsed on May 31, 2012 in Reference (c).

Attachments 1-5 of this letter constitute the response for Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, Unit 1, including a list of areas that were unable to be inspected due to inaccessibility and the schedule to complete the walkdowns. The results of the follow-up inspections will be submitted within 60 days after the end of the next refueling outage in Spring 2013.
