From Jeff Taylor /Re: SONGS Importance: High bear Members Of The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, San Onofre has reached it's intended life span. It falls under the category of structural, and functional obsolescence.

It is on a fault-line (Newport-Inglewood) known to be capable of producing an overwhelming quake (8.5) and tsunami. Earthquake experts (USGS) have been saying for sometime, based on historical records, that we are due for this fault-line to "let go" soon!

Let's not forget the great Long Beach earthquake in 1933. This happened on the same fault-line.

My 90 year old mother still recalls this quake.

SONGS defective steam generators are severely damaged due to design flaws which could result in a meltdown if they did restart. What kind of thinking, or profits could justify this move on Edison's part. How can they even think of such a move? The risk outweighs the benefits hands down!

Now the FBI has been called in to investigate a confirmed case of sabotage, disabling a crucial safety backup system (and there may be others) thanks to the informant who sees the potential catastrophic consequences that would occur in the event of a meltdown. How would you feel knowing these dangers, and allowing the plant to restart, and then a meltdown occurs? How could you even live with yourselves?.

And let's not forget, as' proven over the past 11 months. Grid operators assure us that we have our electrical needs covered with out San Onofre. At most, people have cut back on usage as well. The millions have withstood the test of time, and weather. WE DO NOT NEED, NOR DO WE WANT SONGS TO EVER RESTART AGAINI We do not care what Edison says, thinks, or feels at this point. Corporate greed will not be allowed to stand above human safety, and the enjoyment of life as we know it here. It has taken millions of lifetimes to get where we're at, never to regain if taken away. All futures destroyed in a heartbeat, and for what? Because "Edison Wants it". Sorry.

Thomas Edison is rolling over in his grave at this moment wishing he could return with a sobering reminder that killing the population was not in "his" plan.

When you look at the severe impact a meltdown has had on Japan, even in a rural area, it simply is not worth the risk, especially in an area where 8.4 million people live within 50 1.

miles of the source. The evacuation plan is utter fantasy. The power outage we had last year that affected large pockets in Southern California was a fiasco. It took and hour to go the distance that normally took 5 minutes.

I want to close on a sobering note here, and I am saying this from the heart. I am a father of three very successful boys. Academically, they are top guns. 19, 21, and 26 years of age. My wife of 22 years, and myself are professionals in the real estate field.

We contribute to our city of San Clemente in many ways. We've lived here for 10 years, and want to keep it that way. I can not fathom the thought of seeing this beautiful state become an untouchable nuclear wasteland.

We are one small speck amidst the millions of other families. Living, caring, loving people whom are productive members of society. Why in the world would Edison act so recklessly, and think for a second that this experiment has any good intentions? Experiment indeed.

They themselves are not even convinced of the integrity of this reactor, yet they're willing to roll the dice, and if it's "Snake Eyes", WE ALL LOSE! That's right! Edison included.

I urge you, members of the NRC, to search your souls, realize that we are at a fork in the road, and that you have the ability, the authority, and all the information needed to never allow SONGS to operate ever again. To have it dismantled, and literally removed from the landscape. To be a part of preserving, and protecting the most beautiful, bountiful, picturesque, and greatest place in the United States. Southern California!

We've come to far, weathered to many storms both naturally, and economically to see it all go up in smoke due to a bad decision. Please make the right decision. We all are counting on you. Thank you, and God bless!

Sincerely, Jeff Taylor / San Clemente, CA / 949-395-7376 2

San Onofre Nuclear Reactor

Dear Chairwoman McFarlane:

I love living in Southern California. It's one of the most beautiful and sensitive places in the world. Let's not risk a Fukushima-type disaster here. San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant sits atop a fault line capable of producing a major quake and tsunami. There is a confirmed case of tampering with the backup system and the massive layoffs of key personnel further threatens the plant's safety, It has lived its full life; now shut it down!

Sincerely, Beverly Brodsky (El Cajon, CA) 1

Descontinue nuclear so 8 million people wont be killed. A defective plant on a earthquack fault is the height of stupidity.

San Ononfre safety concern

Dear Chairperson,

As a resident of Oceanside California I am opposed to the restart of the reactor at San Ononfre.

I feel that the plant is not safe and that the electricity that it would supply is not needed.

I would rather pay higher utility rates than worry about the potential danger of losing everything that I own.

Sincerely, Ed Maher 3650 Via Alicia Oceanside, CA 92056 I

San Onofre

Dear Sirs,

I am writing to you to express my concern about the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. We seem to be wasting time trying to decide what to do with old reactors that need to be retired. Don't let Edison persuade you that their idea of experimenting with restarting at 70% is safe. It is just an experiment, not a guarantee of safety.

The risk is too great in this highly populated area to have a nuclear experiment with an old, worn out plant.

Sincerely, Wendy Morris San Clemente resident 1
