Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS) Unit 2 Docket No. STN 50-529 Seismic Walkdown Report Requested by NRC Letter, Request for InformationPursuantto Title 10 of the Code of FederalRegulations 50.54(0 Regarding Recommendations 2.1, 2.3, and 9.3, of the Near-Term Task Force Review of Insights from the Fukushima Dai-ichi Accident On March 12, 2012, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Reference 1 to Arizona Public Service (APS). Enclosure 3 of Reference 1 contains specific Requested Actions, Requested Information, and Required Responses associated with Seismic Recommendation 2.3. This letter provides the PVNGS Unit 2 Seismic Walkdown Submittal Report in response to the request of Reference 1 for Seismic Recommendation 2.3.

For Seismic Recommendation 2.3, Enclosure 3 of Reference 1 states that within 180 days of NRC endorsement of the walkdown guidance, each addressee will submit its final response for the requested information, including a list of any areas that are unable to be inspected due to inaccessibility and a schedule for when the walkdown will be completed.

For Resolution of Fukushima Near-Term Task Force Recommendation 2.3: Seismic, which was endorsed in Reference 2. Appendices A and B of Enclosure 1 contain security-related information. Therefore, APS is requesting that those appendices be withheld from public disclosure.

The regulatory commitment made in this submittal is listed in Enclosure 2.

Any other statements in this submittal are provided for-information purposes and are not considered to be regulatory commitments. -

SCHEDULED COMMITMENT COMPLETION DATE i-APS will complete the PVNGS Unit 2 seismic walkdown inspections for SSCs that were inaccessible, inspections required by seismic frequently asked question 4.20, and any additional required seismic licensing basis August 31, 2013 evaluations. Upon completion of these activities, APS will submit a supplement to this report with required results.
