Materials Control, ISFSI, and Decommissioning Branch Division of Nuclear Materials Safety DATE: November 1, 2012 TIME: 6:00pm - 8:30pm PLACE: Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center 1 Lake Front Drive Zion, Illinois 60099 PURPOSE: TO DISCUSS NRC OVERSIGHT OF THE ZION NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 DECOMMISSIONING ACTIVITIES AND ANSWER PUBLIC QUESTIONS.
DISCUSSION: On November 1, 2012, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting to discuss the NRCs oversight and decommissioning status of the Zion Nuclear Power Station and to address any questions that the public may have. The meeting notice and NRC presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html as ML12292A149 and ML12313A148, respectively. A list of principle NRC meeting participants can be found in the enclosure.
The NRC began the meeting with a presentation on the decommissioning process, license transfer, NRC inspection process, Zions independent spent fuel storage installation, and the decommissioning funding status for Zion Nuclear Power Station.
