Dear Commission Members:
I am writing this letter on behalf of the Escondido City Council and residents to express our concern regarding Southern California Edison's' request to restart the Unit 2 reactor at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).
While we recognize the importance of SONGS to the energy grid and the desire to get the facility back in service after a nearly ten-month outage, we urge the NRC to ensure that safety is the top priority. We ask that you take the appropriate time to review all plans and materials before making a decision about restart. \\Ne further ask that we are kept informed about any proposed changes that may impact our city.
