Community Letters Per our discussion and the packet we send yesterday, we want to reiterate the Senator's request that the NRC reach out to those communities (and any others that have written the NRC) to provide them with an update on the status of San Onofre based on NRC's latest information.
The Senator also asked that NRC keep them abreast of developments as you move forward with addressing Edison's forthcoming response to the confirmatory action letter and NRC's decision regarding restart.
Please let Grant and me know when the NRC has responded to those groups and if the NRC has any questions.

Dear Chairman,
lackzo:
I share the same safety and equipment concerns raised by Senator Barbara Boxer in her letter to you onl February 8, 2012 regarding Sail Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).
While SONGS is not located in my State Assembly district, the impacts to the City of San Diego and the region cornpel me to join Senator Boxer in seeking information on behalf of residents in nmy communities.
San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) serves my district and most of San Diego County, and the region receives almost twenty percent of its electricity from SONGS.
Since the shutdown of the power plant, there have been differing reports as to the cause of the leak and the rintegrity of the steam tubes that are used.
Some news outlets have reported comments made the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) spokesperson Victor Dricks about steam generator tubes at the plant showing "many, many years of wear."
Is his statement conclusive of an NRC investigation? If so, what oversight actions are the NRC taking to ensure these problems are corrected and that plant operations safely resume?
Additionally, SONGS reported in the same week about an incident in January in which a contracted employee fell into the spent fuel rod cooling pool. This incident is just one among other safety violations at the facility over the past two years. What action is the NRC taking to address the continued safety violations at SONGS?
The safety of the public and the reliability of this important power plant require immediate attention. Thank you for considering my questions. I look forward to your official response.
Sincerely, TONI ATKINS "
