Response from "Comment on NRC Documents" Below is the result of your feedback form.
It was submitted by William Sharfman (sharfman(Iumich.edu) on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 17:58:40 DocumentTitle: Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants: Supplement 38 Regarding Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos.
2 and 3 - Draft Report for Comment NUREG-1437, Supplement 38, Volume 4, Draft Report).
Comments: I am a citizen and taxpayer living on the Hudson River in the zip code 10024 in Manhattan, hence the future of Indian Point is relevant to me, directly.
Indian Point has served its useful life, and poses an unnecessary hazard and risk for continued operation past its current license.
It is 40 years old, that is enough.
- Further, its output is no longer needed for our region, and therefore there is no reason nor justification for extending its license past current expiration.
it should be retired from operation when its license expires.
Sincerely, William L. Sharfman, Ph.D.
