Response from "Comment on NRC Documents" Below is the result of your feedback form. It was submitted by Alice Slater (aslater(Ircn.com) on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 19:50:23 DocumentTitle: Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants:

Supplement 38 Regarding Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit Nos. 2 and 3 - Draft Report for Comment NUREG-1437, Supplement 38, Volume 4, Draft Report).

Comments:

Dear Nuclear Regulatory Commission:

I live in New York City, about 25 miles from the Indian Point nuclear reactors, which are up for relicensing in 2013 and 2015. I am writing to urge that you deny them the new licenses and begin to move the crowded irradiated fuel rods, now dripping tritium, plutonium and strontium-90, among other toxic radioactive by products of the nuclear power produced there, into the air, water and soil of the community and the River.

According to your own findings, one of the Indian Pt reactors, number 3, is the reactor most likely to suffer core damage due to ab earthquake, in the whole country, and the other reactor, number 2, was found by you on April 2, 2000, to be the most trouble-plagued reactor in the country. The 911 Commission found that Al Qaeda had the Indian Pt reactors in their documents as a potential target, when they decided, instead, to destroy the World Trade towers. NYC would have been a devastated sacrifice zone, as there is more irradiated fuel in the fuel pools there than in the fuel pools at Fukushima, which is still spewing its toxic poisons out all over Japan and the Pacific ocean. How could we allow this monstrous possibility of uncalculable devastaion to continue to hang over out head like a sword of Damocles?

Please don't push our luck!! There's no conceivable way that the more than 20 million people living in a 50 mile radius of Indian Pt. could be evacuated! The US required that US citizens be evacuated within a 50 mile radius of the Fukushima reactors; surely you must know that it would be impossible in this dense urban-suburban area.

Please do the right thing and deny the renewal licenses. We have numerous studies to show that there would be adequate replacement energy from efficiency, solar, wind, tidal. Thank you for your serious and conscientious attention to this request.

Sincerely, Alice Slater organization: Shut Down Indian Point Now DOCKETED USNRC St.
