Supplement 1," dated July 20, 2012.
By letter dated June 11, 2012, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke Energy) formally received a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Request for Additional Information (RAI) (Reference 1) associated with the design and licensing bases for the proposed Protected Service Water (PSW) system. Duke Energy responded to the RAIs by letters dated July 11, 2012, and July 20, 2012 (References 2 and 3). As described in the latter response, additional validation was required for the Request for Additional Information (RAI) 141 response by August 17, 2012. However, on August 8, 2012 and August 13, 2012, Duke Energy notified Mr. John Boska, NRC Project Manager, that due to the complexities associated with the validation that additional time would be needed to complete the response. Duke Energy anticipates the response to be submitted by November 2, 2012.
