Adoption of NFPA 805, Performance-Based Standard for Fire Protection for Light Water Reactor Electric Generating Plants (2001 Edition)

As discussed in the NRC letter dated May 7, 2012 (Reference a), an online reference portal will be established to allow the NRC staff and contractors limited read-only access to the basis documents and other reference materials cited in the Nine Mile Point Unit 1 (NMP1) license amendment request for adoption of a new risk-informed, performance-based fire protection licensing basis that is based on National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 805 (Reference b). In Reference (a), the NRC outlined certain terms and conditions associated with the online reference portal. Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) agrees to the terms and conditions set forth in Reference (a) and will maintain those conditions throughout the duration of the NRC review process. Following NRC acceptance of the amendment request for review, NMPNS will send to the NRC project manager for NMP1 the information necessary to access the portal.
