NRC Regulatory lssue Summary 2011-04, "Preparation and Scheduling of Operator Licensing Examinations," dated May 25, 2011 In references 1 and 2, the Tennessee Valley Authority (T\\/A) provided proposed initial operator license examination schedules for Watts Bar Nuclear Plant for calendar year (CY) 2012-2015 and CY 2013-2016, respectively, as requested by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in references 3 and 4. In references 3 and 4, the NRC also stated that any schedule changes required should be addressed in a letter to the applicable NRC regional office. TVA requests the following changes to the initial license operator examinations proposed in reference 1 for Watts Bar Nuclear Plant.
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 April 20,2012 Initial Operator Licensing Examinations Proposed in References 1 and 2 Requested Changes to the Initial Operator Licensing Examinations Proposed in References 1 and 2 PlanU Station 2012 2013 Date Applicants Date Applicants Watts Bar 10t14 16 03/1 I 16 The Operator Training lnitial License Training (lLT) class 1211 examination is being delayed to ensure that the new Feedwater Digital Control System procedures being used during the examination will be approved and issued prior to submittal of our NRC examination. The Feedwater Digital Control System procedures will be approved and issued in October 2012 after the next Unit 1 refueling outage. ILT class 1306 is being moved to ensure at least 6 months between NRC examinations to ensure appropriate resources and oversight are provided to the project.
The number of anticipated license candidates is 16 per examination date. Therefore, TVA is requesting two weeks for each examination. There are no other changes to the previously requested initial license operator examination schedules for Watts Bar Nuclear Plant submitted in reference 2.
