Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Unit 2 - Operating License - Environmental Review Mr. Howe, This is a follow-up email to my voice mail messages. I spoke with Mr. Townsend today and he suggested that I email you regarding the environmental review for the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Unit 2.
I am on contract supporting the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) with the cultural resources review. My counterpart is Allison Travers at the NRC and I copied her on this email as well.
NRC published the Draft Final Environmental Statement related to the Operation of Watts Bar Nuclear Plant, Unit 2, Supplement 2 in October 2011. Your office should have received a letter and the draft EIS for review and comment in November 2011. The information can also be found at this link: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/nuregs/staff/sr0498/
2 The NRC is working on the Final Environmental Statement over the next few months and we wanted to touch base with you regarding any comments or questions you may have before completing the final document.
The NRC is conducting Section 106 consultations in compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA) through the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), as outlined in 36 CFR 800.8(c).
We are also available to schedule a meeting, if you would like to talk about the environmental review or have any questions that we can help answer.
