UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 April 17, 2012 Mr. Thomas Joyce President and Chief Nuclear Officer PSEG Nuclear LLC P.O. Box 236, N09 Hancocks Bridge, NJ 08038
SUBJECT:
SALEM NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NO.2 - CORRECTION TO AMENDMENT NO. 282 REGARDING RELOCATION OF SPECIFIC SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCIES TO A LICENSEE-CONTROLLED PROGRAM BASED ON TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION TASK FORCE (TSTF) CHANGE TSTF-425 (TAC NO. IVIE3575)
Dear Mr. Joyce:
On March 21, 2011, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 282 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-75 for Salem Nuclear Generating Station (Salem), Unit No.2 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No.
IVIL110410691). This amendment consisted of changes to the Technical Specifications (TSs) and Facility Operating License in response to your application dated March 23, 2010, as supplemented by letters dated November 19,2010, January 31,2011, and February 23,2011 (ADAMS Accession Nos. IVIL100910154, IVIL103230482, IVIL110320094, and IVIL110540567 respectively). The amendment modified the TSs by relocating specific surveillance frequencies to a licensee-controlled program based on TS Task Force (TSTF) Change TSTF-425.
Bye-mail dated April 2, 2012, PSEG Nuclear LLC (PSEG) informed the NRC staff that one of the TS camera-ready pages prepared by PSEG to support issuance of the amendment (Salem Unit 2 TS page 3/4 5-4) incorrectly added items to the list of valves in TS Surveillance Requirement (SR) 4.5.2.a.1. Specifically, the camera ready page added valves 21 SJ 44 and 22 SJ 44 to the list contained in SR 4.5.2.a.1.
PSEG provided a corrected camera-ready TS page 3/4 5-4. The NRC staff has reviewed the corrected TS page and determined that it is consistent with the proposed TS markups included in the application dated March 23, 2010. The staff also confirmed that the two valves inadvertently added to the camera-ready page had previously been deleted from this page in Salem Unit 2 Amendment No. 69 (ADAMS Accession No. ML011720600).
T. Joyce
