RE: Meeting on path forward for seismic analyses We need to be cautious about over-reacting before knowing the facts from results of actual seismic measurements at the plant. Also, USGS estimates were bouncing all over from a high of.37 g early yesterday to.2 g later in the late afternoon, and yet still higher than the calculations made by Yong and Cliff. There is great uncertainty in these numbers and we expect USGS to update their numbers further. What we know thus far (preliminary) is that the exceedance is in the high frequency band of the spectrum. Depending on that bounds of the band, major structures and components may not be affected.
At the very least, we need to wait until Yong Li and George Thomas return from the site and update us based on the information they gathered.

RE: Meeting on path forward for seismic analyses Thanks, Jennifer.
I'll make sure Pat Hiland and our NRR structural folks are aware, as well.

Meeting on path forward for seismic analyses Brian and I were talking strategy about seismic evaluations which are the topic of the recent GL on GI-1 99 and are of course highlighted in the Fukushima Task Force recommendations. We were thinking that the recent earthquake near North Anna and the staff's preliminary analysis of ground motion vs. the SEE have provided additional information worth discussing. Marty suggested that we get everyone together and discuss our 1
cqwreerit plans and expected timeline of licensee actions. He asked me to call his administrative assistant to set up a meeting. So, you all should be getting an invitation to a meeting hopefully on Tuesday. I thought it would be best if we could get together before the public meeting on Wed. Please consider attending the meeting and bringing the appropriate staff, as the meeting invitation will not go to the staff.
