EDWIN I. HATCH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNIT NO.2 - WITHDRAWAL OF RELIEF REQUEST HNP-ISI-RR-12 (TAC NO. ME7726)
Dear Mr. Ajluni:
By letter dated December 22, 2011, (Agencywide Document Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML113570234), Southern Nuclear Operating Company, Inc. (SNC, the licensee), submitted a relief request (RR) for the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Unit 2, Facility Operating License No. 50-366. The RR HNP-ISI-RR-12 "Analytical Evaluation of Residual Heat Removal Service Water Piping" applied the use of Code Case N-597-2. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conditionally approved the use of Code Case N-597-2 in Regulatory Guide 1.147. The conditions for use include NRC review and approval prior to use of the Code Case. Therefore, SNC submitted HNP-ISI-RR-12 in order to obtain the required NRC review and approval. Subsequently, by letter dated January 31, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12032A239), SNC withdrew relief request HNP-ISI-RR-12.
The purpose of this letter is to advise you that the above cited RR is being treated as withdrawn.
As a consequence, you are not required to respond to the NRC letter dated January 9,2012 "Edwin I. Hatch, Plant No. 2-Request for Additional Information (RAI), HNP-ISI-RR-12, Residual Heat Removal Service Water Piping (TAC No. ME7726)" (ADAMS Accession No. ML12004A062).
