Tuesday, December 06, 2011 8:51 AM Goshen, John Calvert Cliffs ISFSI License Renewal During our recent ( 11/30/11) conference call in regards to Calvert Cliffs ISFSI License Renewal a couple of questions were raised by the NRC. Below are the questions and their associated responses:
- 1.
Where do we have our air particulate filter samples analyzed? - The air filters to be sampled are sent to Constellation Energy's lab located at Constellation's Fort Smallwood facility in Anne Arundel county, Maryland.
- 2.
What is the instrument we use to measure the weekly beta activity collected from the air particulate filters? -
Samples are analyzed by an LB5100 Tennelec.
- 3.
What is the uncertainty associated with measuring the beta activity? - The uncertainty of the beta analysis is whichever is greater; 2 sigma of the calculated result or 3 sigma of the MDA. The LlMS (the software used to calculate the results) calculates both values automatically and returns the greater of the two in the reports.
