Inspection Program Updates
- Results of the Mid-cycle assessment review issued in a September 1, 2011 letter to TVA
- Overall acceptable performance
- Three items highlighted:
- Inadequate corrective action for historical items
- Resolution of Heinemann circuit breaker
- No substantive cross-cutting issues
Inspection Program Updates
- Next periodic assessment in November for the Quarterly review
- Expended approximately 9000 inspection related hours in 2nd half of FY11
Status of Inspection Items
- Approximately 532 construction inspection items in the Inspection Planning and Scheduling (IP&S)
- Closed 145 IP&S items
- Many remaining IP&S items have been inspected, but require additional effort to close
- Closed eight (8) Corrective Action Programs and Special Programs, many sub-issues also closed
Pre-Operational Testing Inspection Program
- Performed in parallel with construction inspection (IMC 2512)
- Two sections: Testing and Operational Preparedness
- Testing - Mandatory and Primal Inspections
- Mandatory tests are large tests that verify functionality of major features/ components
- Primal tests are system level tests, samples select based on risk, history, etc.
Pre-Operational Testing Inspection Program
- Operational Preparedness inspections assess programs and TVAs ability to support Unit 2 operations
- Examples: radiation protection; chemistry; security; emergency preparedness; fire protection, etc.
- Inspection guidance in 2513 being reviewed for applicability
- Will require inspectors outside of the construction inspection group
